Mt Buangor, Middle Creek Campground

Labour Day Weekend March 9-12 2017 - Trip 10

This was our destination for the labour day long weekend.  With  3 other families from school and a set of grandparents from the same group we headed up to Mt Buangor for the weekend.  Arriving in the dark on the Friday night due to the great long weekend friday traffic over the west gate bridge we set up our tent, leaving the annexe down until morning.

A fairly cold night but nothing to write home about turned into a beautiful morning, camp fire lite and breakfast on, bacon and eggs (what else for breakkie day 1).  We were due the arrival of the last family late morning, so we headed out on a easy walk up to the cave, as the youngest member of the group was arriving later and we thought it would be a walk to much for her.  It turns out that if we had consulted the walking track board in the campsite it would have warned us that it had been upgraded form the websites easy to a very hard due to the condition of the track and the fallen street etc.........

Turns out it was a great walk, a little tricky but well worth the hike.

With everyone now in camp we set out for a quick walk to the waterfalls.... unfortunately it was a bite shorter than we expected as it was very overgrown.  Beautiful  spot though.  With a family staying back at camp to set up for a dinner around the campfire, cooked on the spit!!!!! !  Pork and lamb, with jacket potatoes and roasted carrots.  A desert of chocolate damper.  The best!!!!

A wet end t the evening ant us to bed a little early, and after a lot of rain in the night we woke to a beautiful morning.  Then more clouds blew in, but not dampening his ur spirits.

We headed out back towards the waterfall this time for a 3km loop.  After having trouble even finding the start of the walk due to a lot of over grown bash we waded our way through the broken ferns and had a great walk.  Kids loved it.

The afternoon tuned into a lazy one, so I borrowed one of the kids bikes and Andrew and I went for a bike wonder.  Did about 10 km on hilly tracks and had load of fun.

Another great night around the campfire with BBQ dinner and jacket potatoes.

Another great weekend away with friends and another dry pack up........  we are lucky!
